Grad season firing back up!

I’m starting to get back to shooting some 2010 grads now again, and I’m trying out some new lighting and photoshopping. I like doing grads, because it gives me a chance to experiment with new and creative stuff, that doesn’t always work for weddings or families. So here’s some funky new shots I tried out in the studio last week. Being winter lasts for so long, it pushes me to try and make the studio sessions a little more dynamic. It’s easy to fall into doing the same thing over and over, because it works, and you know it’s safe. But sometimes I need to expand my skills, and make more of an effort to play around and discover new techniques. Hope you enjoy!

Mrs. Kimberley Englot – Authentic Life Coach

Meet Kimberely Engot, Authentic Life Coach. She’s a good person, she’s a happy person, and she’s a positive person. If you need to get your life straightened out, and start finding out who you really are, and living true to that, look her up. Here’s her site link…..    http://kimberlyenglot.com/    Plus she drove through a storm, all the way from Saskatoon, to come for this photo shoot, so I think she deserves to have some traffic flow directed at her site, since she’s obviously very passionate about what she does!  Thank you for taking the time and effort to come for your session Kim. It was awesome to meet you.

Friends

These two girls are so much fun. I did their grad pictures a few years ago, and now they’re away from home, moving on with life. They are still great friends, and decided to come in for a shoot together, just for fun. What a great idea!  We had a fun afternoon, and even ventured outside, though only for a couple short minutes.  :)   Spring, where are you??

Newborn twins!!

Since it’s been quiet around the blog, I’m posting alot from this special session. I don’t know if I mentioned it before on here, but I’ve tried to take January off from shooting for the most part. All the little jobs (doing up pricing brochures, making business cards, printing my own pictures, designing wedding albums, etc) tend to get delayed when I’m shooting so steady. But when I got a call last week with an inquiry about photographing newborn twins, I couldn’t say no. Before this year, I’d never photographed twins at all, and now, in the past three months, I’ve photographed 3 sets of twin girls! These were my first newborns though, so I was up for the challenge.

These two sweeties behaved very well! We took our time all afternoon, but we got a variety of shots together, and individually. It was so neat to see a real life miracle. These twins girls were brought into this family at the perfect time, and are going to be a blessing to everyone around them. Congratulations on your wonderful little treasures!

New Years Day wedding – Part 2

As promised, here is part 2 of the wedding, the details! It looked so elegant and romantic in the old Grenfell Hall on friday. The arrangements were so unique, with the pine branches and white tulips. Like I said before, if you need a florist, check out the bride’s store, Buds & Blossoms in Regina on Dewdney.

Kicking off the New Year with a wedding! – Part 1

On January 1st, I photographed an incredibly chilly wedding to start off the 2010 season.  At -30 plus windchill, we only did a handful of outdoor shots. It was impossibly cold, and I’m sure the wedding party was cursing me by the end of it!  I’m so glad that you all went along with it though, because you all looked amazing in your wraps!  We ended up back at the studio very shortly, and did some shots against my new red kitchen walls! I think they turned out pretty cool.

Because it’s been such a long time between posts for the last little while, I’m going to do quite a few shots from this wedding. The bride is owner of Buds & Blossoms in Regina, Sk. (on Dewdney, near the Pasque hospital), so the flowers were absolutely incredible at the reception.  More to come on that in a day or two. For now, here’s a snippet of what we got accomplished that day. :)

Saskatchewan’s frosty beauty

I see the last entry was from mid december, so this is long overdue! I was coaxed outside one frosty afternoon by a friend of mine who thought I should capture the beauty of the day. I was a bit resistant, since I didn’t have a vehicle at home, and had to ride my bike, but it was well worth it.  There are few things more stunning than a brilliant blue sky, accompanied by hoarfrost covered trees. I absolutely love a white Saskatchewan winter scene.

Happy New Year everyone!!  :)
