Cowessess Grads

How great to get back to outdoor shooting, in weather that’s above zero degrees!  I love it.  I had a great time photographing this class. We stuck around the studio for the most part for everyone’s individuals. It’s really a challenge this time of year, when there are no leaves yet, and everything is still looking pretty dead.  I shot a lot of closer images, partly because of that, and partly because I got a new camera, and it is sooooo deadly sharp! I was amazed by the clarity in the eyes, and how much detail I could see in the highlights. In some of the super tight shots I could see myself and my assistant, Sarah, in the reflections in the eyes! Incredible.

Anyway, thanks everyone for being so much fun. Enjoythe preview! :)

In Memory

It absolutely breaks my heart to post these images. Our community lost a young man today. He just graduated in the spring of 2009, and I have had the opportunity to photograph him on numerous occasions over the years.  As a tribute to him, and as a way to share our support as a community, to his family, I wanted to post a few recent shots of Landon.

We had a lot of fun doing his casuals in the fall of 2008.  Most guys don’t enjoy getting pictures done, and I’m sure he wasn’t crazy thrilled about it either, but his girlfriend came along, and we had a great time.  He and his girlfriend are actually in the photo on the far right, on the blog header. It’s still one of my favorite “couple” shots.  I also included a few of him and his sister, Justine. They are quite close in age, and share a very special bond. I love the shot of the two of them laughing, and I think this really captures their relationship.

There is going to be a certain emptiness  felt by his family.  It’s going to take time to heal. It’s going to take time to come to terms with their loss.  I pray that God would grant them comfort, and that the support of the community will be felt by them in overwhelming ways. We all knew Landon, and watched him grow into a young man. I don’t think there’s anything else I can say, but to let the family know that we all think you raised a wonderful son. God bless.
