On thursday, we got to celebrate Canada Day with three completely wonderful people. My husband’s cousin had a baby boy a week and a half ago, and we got to meet him! Casey kind of took a liking to him, and Aiden serenaded him on the guitar. I photographed mommy and daddy’s wedding almost a year ago, so a lot has changed for them in this first year of marriage! Kristina has the most beautiful spirit, and she and her husband are going to be incredible parents. I loved being able to photograph them in their own home. I don’t always do this, but it sure is cool to see people in their own environment, getting used to this new little creature in their lives. Thanks so much for letting us come visit you so soon after your delivery. It’s not easy playing hostess when you are still recovering from childbirth, so we really appreciate you letting us come meet him. God bless guys!

On a side note, this session was in Yorkton. We left the city as the skies started to get dark and scary looking, later on in the afternoon. We got caught on the highway in that torrential downpour. Our wipers couldn’t keep up, and I was afraid we’d start hydro planing and slide into the lane of oncoming traffic. We got pelted by a bit of hail, and though I’m not usually a nervous traveller, even in snow storms, I was feeling my heart racing. When I woke up this morning and went on MSN, I saw the images of Yorkton and all the flooding that happened during that storm. Unbelievable. It looked like the images in New Orleans a few years back. Glad we were able to get home safely when we did. I’m sure there were others who weren’t so lucky.
