Colorful family

This family moved to town a few years ago and we’ve gotten to know them a little bit since then. They’re such fun people, and their kids are real sweeties.  Smiles were a little hard to come by for the little girl, but the cute pigtails made up for it! When I asked her what colors they were wearing, and she started listing them off, I honestly was thinking, WHOA!! Turns out I  LOVE the bright colors with the yellow leaves! Everything is so vibrant looking.  Good job Ms. Stylist! This was only a week ago, and already the leaves have almost disappeared from this location :(

Family

This sweet family came to me from Regina, and had been referred to me by one of my former brides (who also happened to be in the wedding party that I shot this saturday!)  It’s nice to know that alot of my clients are coming because they’ve got a friend who has come here and had recommended the studio.  Thanks for making the drive out guys, and for taking time out of your busy work/school schedules to make time for this appointment. And thank the Lord for the wonderful sunshine we’ve had this week. No rescheduling!!!

Two kissing pictures in a row, I know. But I like them both!

A special grad session

This is a larger than normal post. See, 13 years ago I moved to Grenfell to spend the summer with my cousin, who had three kids.  I lived with their family for a few months, then decided I kinda liked it here, so I stayed.  So I got to see my cousin’s three kids grow up, like neices and nephews and got to practice my photography skills on them throughout the years. The above shots are some of my first attempts! She’s the big sister of the three and she was always a willing subject (unlike her younger brother!)  I enjoyed hanging out with her last week to photograph her casual grad shots. She’s got a special place in my heart, along with her younger siblings. It’s going to be different next year without her around. But life evolves, and change is inevitable.  Big hugs and God bless as you moved foward into a new chapter in life over the coming years.  :)   ♥♥♥

Esterhazy wedding

Sunshine, glorious sunshine!!  How lucky were we to get the one good day of the week!  It was a beautiful day on saturday, and the wedding party was so much fun, and the couple was awesome, and we had a blast.  And for all you Habs fans out there, you would have loved the bride’s grandma who did the wedding ceremony.  She got out the flag and draped it over them, while using a hockey analogy to describe married life. Cool lady!

Congrats guys. :)

Ring shot below – Josie’s idea.  Very cool.

Emily

Meet my new friend, Emily.  She’s a fellow photographer who contacted me a few months ago (a year maybe??) and we’ve been “online” friends for awhile now. I finally got to meet her in real life last friday! It’s such an odd thing in our social media society now, that you can know so much about a person, and feel that they really are a friend, yet never have actually stood face to face with them.  I’m so glad that we got to have a personal meeting, so that we could visit in real time, and hang out a bit.  She was on her way to the Carlyle craft show, as she is a fantastic landscape photographer. If you happened to be at that sale last week, you will have seen her booth, Prevailing Winds.  Here’s the link to her etsy site.  Go take a peek, and if you need any Christmas presents, scoop up some artwork now!

Family

This session was organized by the daughter of the family, and she did a great job of making sure everyone followed instructions and wore the right colors! They looked great with their teal and black.  She wanted to get this session done, as she’s heading out to live in Switzerland for awhile!  She’s an avid snowboarder, and she found a school that  incorporates that love, with an additional  focus on Christian missions work.  She’s leaving next month, and is super excited about her new adventure, though I’m sure she’ll be missed by the rest of the crew.  We’ll miss you Brenda, but soooooo incredibly excited for you!!  I attended a bible school in Sweden my first year out of high school, so I know exactly how she’s feeling about the trip.  A bit of anxiousness, a bit of anticipation, and a bit of wonder, not knowing what’s in store.  Have a fabulous year!  :)

Rider Pride

Full day in Regina

A few saturdays ago I spent the day inRegina shooting sessions. I won’t even mention the annoying weather, but it was less than desireable.  I’m amazed it doesn’t show more in the pictures, but trust me, with the stinking wind, there were a lot of outtakes. Well, I guess I did mention the weather after all. I know I probably get annoying with all my posts and commenting on the weather conditions, but my goodness has it been a challenge this year!! Wind, rain, rescheduling, postponing, etc.  I should give myself a slap and be thankful that I don’t live in Pakistan where the weather is destroying basically everything.  As frustrating as our climate is this year, I guess we’ve really got it pretty good in comparison to other parts of the world.

Anyway, enough about that.  I’m going to group everyone in one post again, to save myself a little time, since I have loads and loads of editing waiting for me.  Here are the two young families and engagement session that I shot.  It was great to meet all of you and explore the city a bit more than I usually get to.  Sorry for the long wait on this!!

Bench

I do have quite a few more sessions coming up that need to be posted, but I thought I’d throw this one up quickly. When I was shooting in S’toon a few weeks ago with my cousin’s family, her husband spotted this bench, and we both loved the way it looked down the path.  I fired off 3 or 4 shots, and when I got them home on the computer, I fell in love with the image.  It will be enlarged to hang in my house somewhere, but now to decide on black and white, or color???  For some reason it reminds me of something you’d see in Savannah, Georgia.  Like in the movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil with John Cusak.  To me, it just has that look to it.

Last week

So as you can tell, if you check in here once and a while, it’s been pretty hectic.  I’ve been shooting like crazy, and rescheduling like crazy as well, with all this rain.  To save myself a little time in the blogging world, I’m grouping last week’s sessions together.  Two grads and a family.  enjoy!
