Just because

On friday afternoon this couple made the trip out from Regina to do a photo session together, just because.  I think more couples should do this, not just when they get engaged or married.  Just simply to capture their connection! We managed to find some color in the trees, although the leaves are quickly dissapearing around town. Thanks for coming out guys. It was great to meet you. :)

“Fall”ing in love

O.k. I know that the title of this post is completely cheezy, but come on. It’s hard thinking of headings! So since it’s fall, and this is an engagement session, it’s going to be called “Falling in Love”.  If my joke is lame, so be it.

This couple is going to tie the knot in a little less than a year, and I got to meet them for the first time today. They’re a great pair and we had a good time together this afternoon. Weather turned in our favor after lunch, and we got lots of sunshine, and no wind. Perfecto!  Good luck with the next year of planning the wedding!

First 2010 couple

While I’m still in the midst of 2009 weddings, I had a 2010 couple come down for their engagement session.  I’ve got a full year next year, and these two were among the first to book.  It was nice to get to meet them, and despite injuring myself, I had a great time with them. Mosquitos were out in full swing, but inbetween batting them away, we got some cool shots. Thanks for coming down guys, and thanks for all the medical advice!

I love this first shot. So romantic! It took us awhile to find a standing wheat field, but it was worth it. :)

A change of pace

We shall take a short intermission from our regular scheduled grad sessions, to bring you one about LOVE. :)   I’m photographing these high school sweetheart’s wedding in August, and they popped in saturday night for their engagement session. We had beautiful light, and drove all over finding new locations to shoot at. Their wedding will be near the gorgeous Qu’appelle Valley, so we’re sure to have some more awesome images from that, especially since it’s in August. I’m so excited! I love august weddings. In my opinion, that’s THE best month to get married (although my wedding was in June!). There is just a different light in August that’s so romantic, and soft. I LOVE it! Best of luck with your remaining planning guys! Thanks for making another trip home for the session.

Laughter

These two were so much fun. They were laughing and giggling the whole time. We managed to sneak a few romantic ones in, but for the most part, the session was a little more light-hearted. Thanks so much for all your excitement and happiness. I was kind of having a bad afternoon, so you two cheered me right up! If ya’ll return to the blog in late October, you’ll see some wedding pics.  :)

I was in a textury mood when I was processing these, so they are a little funked up. For anyone who’s wondering, I always include an original version, and the modified version in the previews. I love doing the different stuff in post-processing, but not everyone does. There’s always an option.

Another chilly engagement session

I do really love being able to get outside to shoot, and this winter I’ve done a ton of sessions in the snow.  It was supposed to be nice out on saturday, and temperature wise, it was. Unfortunately, we always seem to have that stinkin’ wind! Aaarrrggh.  I’m getting sooo ready for spring! We drove around town trying to find areas that were somewhat sheltered from the wind. We sort of found a few, but it was still pretty ugly. We made our way back to the studio to finish off, and that allowed me to try out my new macro lens again, and get another pretty ring shot. :)

I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s neat that I’m starting to book weddings for couples whom I’ve previously shot their grad photos.  Last summer, I shot at least 4 weddings that I’d also done their grads.  I did this girl’s grad pictures a few years back, but I’ve also photographed her family a number of times. Thanks for including me in this next portion of your life! It’s a long wait til the wedding, but I know it’ll be so much fun.

A new chapter

A few years ago I photographed this gorgeous girl at her graduation.  Now our paths have crossed again, as she and her fiance are expecting and preparing for their wedding! I had really enjoyed meeting her as a grade 12 student, and now getting to see her again as a young woman, taking that next big step in her life is really neat. She’s got an awesome guy to join her, and they are in for all sorts of exciting new adventures! Thanks for travelling down guys, and I can’t wait to see you in a a few months again when baby arrives. :)

Love

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of meeting this totally beautiful couple. They are just quality people. I enjoyed our session together so much, and I really appreciate the fact that they drove from Saskatoon, with terrible roads, and were still happy and cheerful when they got to the studio. I just know that their spring wedding is going to be a perfect, laid back, fun filled day. Thank you so much for making such a  long drive down guys! Glad you made it home safely.  :)

O.k. locals. Another trivia question. Where did I shoot this image?? Again, like the hood of the truck, maybe it’ll be an easy one. In fact, yes, it will be easy, but I’ve never shot here before, and I liked the glowy reflection!

S & S

I’m doing this couple’s wedding next fall, so they popped in last week to get an engagement session done. Even though it’s getting a bit chilly out these days, we still did a couple outside shots. Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Warm cuddles

Because of the smashing great weather we had (is the sarcasm coming through loud and clear???), we did quite a few “cuddling” poses. Yes, it was cold again, but oh well. It is the end of October. You can’t expect +15 temps anymore I suppose. We worked with the wind, as usual, and managed to make it work to our advantage for a few shots. Shot #2 wouldn’t have been the same without the wind swept hair! Oh, and nice teeth J!

I quickly ran these guys in front (or parallel I should say) to the train that was whizzing past. It only works once in a while to get this “zooming train in the background” shot, but I always get a kick out of it.
