Baby blue

On the weekend, I headed out near Regina to photograph my husband’s cousin’s family, and their new little man.  He wasn’t quite newborn anymore (born just before Christmas), but we somehow got a few sleeping newbornish type poses at the end. He was such a happy little guy, and the kid’s playroom was so amazingly colorful and bright and cheery. I loved it!  Thanks for the visit guys.

Past sessions

I’ve been done shooting sessions for awhile now, so the blog has been a little lonely lately. I always need the last month and a half before Christmas to design cards, albums, get orders done and packaged up, etc.  Because I’m not shooting anything, there’s nothing going on in blogland, so I figured I’d post a few images from some of my summer and fall sessions.  Enjoy the warm, sunny images!

Family

This family came last saturday for their session, and because of the ugliness that was outside, we were in the studio.  Their little girl has curls just like my oldest used to have when he was that age. I’m sure she’ll like them a whole lot more than my boy!

We had a chilly evening the night we shot this session, and little miss wasn’t sure about me. Dad worked his butt off though, and he pulled out a couple smiles for me, but it was just getting too cold to stay out for much longer. We headed into the studio after awhile. Sometimes a change of location is all you need. She was a much happier girl once we got warm!

Family

One of the sweetest families, and they come almost every year, so I get to see them often.  Their kids are such polite, loving little people.  I enjoyed watching big brother playing with his sister. You were an awesome helper bud!

Harley Family

This was the third session on my saturday of Wolseley-Grenfell-Whitewood sessions. It was a busy day!  I had photographed the one son a few years ago for grad casuals, and I really enjoyed getting to know him. He just seemed like a person you’d want to have as a friend. His mom also came along for his session, and she said that one day she’d like to get pictures done out near their place with their Harleys. Well, the day finally came. It wasn’t a nice day even remotely, but we all were troopers and even though there were no leaves in the valley, I love the images, and the colors are so pretty despite of the lack of foliage.  Thanks for your patience in waiting for this post guys. I know it’s been two weeks, and you were probably really anxious!

Family

I don’t tend to shoot a lot of morning sessions, but a few saturdays back, I had a full day of sessions, so I started early (morning – Wolseley, lunchtime – Grenfell, afternoon – Whitewood!)  It was the most amazing light in Wolseley at the spillway that morning.  The sun was so pretty shimmering off the rocks and water, and the family had the perfect clothing for the setting. Thanks for meeting me there guys. I’m glad we were able to make it work, despite the crazy wind! Don’t let the sun fool you – it was freezing!

Family

Some kids take a little bit  of time before they warm up to the whole idea of a strange lady sticking a big camera in their face. So this is the expression I got when we first started…

But then dad gets to work, bringing out the smiles. Hide and seek worked beautifully!  Comfort level is rising now….

and the fun continues with some upside down shaking, flower picking, chasing,  more peek-a-booing, and the smiles come a little easier as the evening rolls on.  Mission accomplished!

Family

This is another local family, and a spunky one at that! I have to say, their individual shots portray their personalities so well!  They all just crack me up.  You’ll see what I mean closer to the end of the post….

This is the real Darby.  He found this pair of goggles in the studio somewhere, and I was able to quickly swing around and grab this shot.  You never know what’s going to happen with kids!

On the other hand, you never know what’s going to happen with odd dad’s either…

Family

I had a friend mention the other day that she didn’t recognize anyone on the blog recently.  I do seem to book alot of families from Regina and many from the surrounding area. Last week, however, I did photograph some locals! These are friends of ours, and we do a session every year, and most years, the weather has been so awful that we’ve had to do a studio session.  This time, we got lucky, and were able to do it with the fall colors!

As with every session this time of year, kids find ladybugs, and are fascinated with them.  Little brother even tried to eat one!

More ladybug exploration!
