Grad

This is another of my Grenfell students, but we did the session later on in the week, not on grad day. It ended up being awful weather in town the night of her session. I happened to be heading up to Saskatoon for a wedding later on in the evening, so instead of her travelling back to Grenfell and doing a studio session because of the rain, I headed out a bit earlier than originally planned, and I met her in Regina for her session, since the weather was better there.  Sooo glad we did the session in the city! It got me to Saskatoon a bit earlier than I had hoped, which was good, and we shot at the university, which was beautiful in the evening! Big thanks go to this girl’s dad and boyfriend for meeting up to get the dress into the city!

I loved the shot below, and wanted to fool around with the processing a bit to make it look a little more “artsy”.  The original look is very pretty, but I really like how this alternate version turned out.

Grenfell Grad

My local class from last weekend. Forecasted rain stayed away, and that made for a better day than expected!

Catch up

As you may have noticed, the blog has been a bit silent lately. I’ve had some really annoying computer issues to deal with, and though I was super busy shooting, I wasn’t able to actually work on anything for almost a week and a half. So that sucked! Everything is basically up and running smoothly again, almost.  So I figured I’d better catch up on blogging. Instead of writing a blurb about each session I shot, I’m lumping everyone together. In here you’ll see students from Qu’appelle, Indian Head, Balgonie, Wolseley, Broadview and Whitewood.  Everyone looked amazing!! Congratulations on your grads. :)

Grad

It would be no challenge at all to do a session if the weather was great, so instead of rain, we had a cold, windy evening.   If it were easy, I guess it would be boring, right??  In between gusts of wind, we actually got some really great shots with the hair somewhat tamed!

Grad

Blue skies made me smile the day I did this session.  No umbrellas, no porches.  We started in the studio, because I had the shot below in my head.  I don’t think either of us were sure about it when we looked at it in the camera, but I knew the black and white would make it awesome once I got it on the computer.

Grad

I’m afraid it might be another spring of umbrellas and porches for my grad sessions. It was drizzling when we first started, but by the end it was full out raining! Thank goodness for nice porches in Wolseley!  Thanks for braving the elements. :)

Grad

I’m amazed that this girl got here for her session! She’s from the Kipling area, and as you all know, they’ve been having a rough go of things there with the power being off for days, and the state of emergency last week.  But she somehow made her way down the Oakshela road, and we had a day without rain to shoot an outdoor session!

Grad

After my newborn session, I changed pace and went outside for a grad session.  I’ve photographed this grad student over the years for figure skating, so it was fun to photograph her in a different way this time.  Thanks mom for being an awesome reflector holder. ;)

Grad

Beautiful girl. Sweet personality.  Notice the earings?? She made them! They had such pretty beadwork.

Grad

Another grad student!  I love this season when I start shooting alot of grads.  Though outside is kind of ugly right now, we still braved the wind, and headed uptown for a few shots. Glad we did, cause I got to use our fancy new town clock as a prop!
