Family

With a cute toque and sweater like this little guy had, we had to try at least a few outdoor shots, but the wind and chilly air was a bit too much for a baby, so we eventually moved to the studio. But at least we got a few with the leaves!

Family

This mommy was a beautiful bridesmaid in a wedding I shot this past summer.  After the wedding she contacted me to set up a pregnancy/family session. It was awesome that dad brought his guitar and we got to incorporate that into the session.

Friendship

I like when friends come in together.  It’s cool to do a session just because, not cause you’re graduating (right girls ;)   or because you’re engaged, or pregnant, etc.  Just because you have a friend and feel like it! Plus, then I feel like I can goof around a bit more, because it’s supposed to be a fun session. No pressure :)

Family

Last weekend I headed out to Whitewood to photograph a few families. It was chilly and windy for the first session, but amazingly, we did everything outside, even with 4 month old twins!  We totally lucked out with them both deciding to take a quick cat nap halfway through, and we placed them under the apple tree for some cute shots. The second family didn’t have such good luck. It started pouring rain about 15 minutes before we were supposed to shoot the session.  We met in Whitewood, hid out under trees, wooden archways, a covered deck, etc.  My camera was covered by a plastic bag, and I was completely drenched by the time we were done. But we did it!  Crazy Saskatchewan weather. You just never know what’s going to happen in this province!

Baby boy

Here’s baby #2 in one week, who came in with his mom and dad, whom I’d done wedding pictures for. This little guy was a sweetheart. I just loved his dark chocolate eyes.

Baby

A while back I photographed this couple’s wedding down at Ft. Qu’appelle and we had a beautiful day for it. The day they came for pictures of their little girl, it wasn’t quite as nice, so we stuck in the studio. She made me work pretty hard for the smiles. I think I sang the Elmo’s World song about 40 times that afternoon! But it got her grinning, so it was worth it :) I just scrolled through to check this post and noticed I don’t really have any with big smiles in here, but we did get some!

Extended family

Depending on how good you are with faces, and how much you follow the blog, you may recognize a set of faces within this extended family grouping. I have photographed the one family a number of times, and when it was decided that a big family picture was needed with the rest of the family, they gave me a call. I headed out to an area I’d never been before, Quinton, Sk.  Grandma had a beautiful flower bed and garden that we took advantage of, as well as a few old white fences, beautiful birch trees, and a big ol’ red barn. We had it all! Thanks for having me out, and thank you soooo much for the meal afterwards. I am still reliving memories of that incredible apple pie. THE best apple pie I have ever had, hands down.  Merci!

Family

Last week I photographed a local family (our neighbors actually) and the sun was beautiful. I love how the pinks looked with the golden colors of the evening :)

1st birthday

It was a little over a year ago that I was photographing this little dude’s newborn session! A year is amazing in a baby’s life, isn’t it? We were a little late on getting these done on his actual birthday, but we were pretty close. He got himself a second cake out of the deal too, although he was very delicate about how he approached it. I’ve done a few smash the cake sessions now, and I’ve always had very tidy toddlers! With a little encouragement though, he dug right in and enjoyed carefully licking his fingers clean. Sweetness :)

A celebration

A good friend of mine, Sharon Clark of Valley Portraits, got married to an incredibly cool guy over winter, in Hawaii. Unfortunately for me, she didn’t bring me along  :( .  But they did have a small family reception at the end of august, and I got to go to that! She has a hard time putting down her camera, and she did have it with her almost all day, but I tried to capture her family and friends, as well as all the little details that went into their day so she wouldn’t have to do it all!  It was great fun just hanging out and shooting for fun. I’m so happy for you guys, and it was a beautiful day to celebrate with you, even if it wasn’t Hawaii.
