Hungry Ghosts
Today I photographed the Broadview grad students. My nightly ritual after a big shoot is to sit at the computer after everyone is gone to bed and click through Youtube videos as I download my cards and start the process of editing my way through getting rid of the bad, and keeping the good. Tonight as I was listening to Gregory Alan Isakov (remember my last music post??), I saw a thumbnail image that caught my eye. It was a painting, and I just loved it, so I clicked on the video. Awesome decision! Click on the image to play the song (sorry I can’t make it bigger). You’ll be glad you did, especially if you like french music with a film noir sort of vibe. Yah, not something that likely comes around regularly on your ipod, but it’s good stuff. I love the comment below the video…. “this makes me feel like i’m cleaning up after murdering someone in France. with a cigarette in my mouth. & red lipstick” It is one of those songs though that sets your imagination on an adventure.
Gregory Alan Isakov
It’s been awhile since I posted anything music related. I may have posted this before, but I kind of don’t think so. So if I can’t remember, then surely no one else can! If you don’t know who Gregory Alan Isakov is, let me introduce you. He’s a fantastic song writer and musician. He has this haunting, melancholy feel to all of his songs. His music is definately more suited for those evenings alone, with a glass of wine, and a good book. It’s not your chipper, lively type. It’s moody, and it’s rich, and it’s magical. Love it. My brother is the one who often finds these unique, unheard of artists, so I have to give credit to him for finding me this gem. And again, because I can’t figure out how to post a youtube clip on this new blog, just click on the image below and it will take you to the song Words. “Words mean more at night, …. though I write these words by day, please read them by the light of the moon”
If I go, I’m going – Gregory Alan Isakov
I know some people don’t like live versions, and these are kind of crappy quality ones, but I think the live is always more charming
